On Friday, June 8th, I cast on for another summer top with Knit Picks Comfy Cotton sport weight. I've used it many times before so I did not bother swatching for gauge.
The top is going to be knit from the bottom up so I cast on 160 stitches knit a few pattern repeats, placed it on waste yarn took a few measurement and things were looking pretty good for width.
I carried on for a total of six inches more and felt it was time for another fitting.
Things were still on track.
After thirteen inches I began my transition to the upper portion of the top and divided for the front and back.
Since I'm inventing the pattern as I go, I needed another fitting to confirm that I had gotten the back shaping correct.
I brought it to the bathroom and struggled to slip it over my shoulders and bust.
It was tight as a brand new pair of panty hose!
Shocking!
How does that happen after several test fittings??!!!
I have no idea.
In no time at all I had rewound 408 yards of cotton and re-cast on 180 stitches. Fun times.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Knitting, it keeps you humble.
I laugh WITH you :o)
